What Is The Best Training Tool? BOB Or The Heavy Bag

By CJ Jerabek

It is hard to choose between BOB (Body Opponent Bag) and the heavy bag. Perhaps you should choose. They both bring something unique to the table. Let's see how he stacks up against the heavy bag.

BOB, makes for some very specific training. With the heavy bag, your training power and endurance. With BOB you are going to get into some more technical things. The heavy bag is unlimited, where BOB is going to take you down a path made for technique.

You can size up BOB like you do an opponent. He is anatomically correct therefore he is great for practicing hitting certain body parts. You can strike the eye or throat without damaging anyone. You can also kick to certain regions with knockout power.

So does BOB have value in MMA? That is a great question. Certainly! You can target the jaw, liver, etc., in preparing to take down your opponent. This is much easier to practice on BOB than the heavy bag. You can also easily move from a kick to a choke, perfecting that fluidity.

If you only have one choice, what do you choose? Most likely the heavy bag. It is more versatile and has a variety of ways you can use it for working out.

Ideally, using both would be the best. You could get the cardio benefits and heavy hitting strength of the heavy bag, and practice technique on BOB. If you can afford both, go for it!

Regardless of the equipment you do purchase, be sure to train on it regularly. After all, you can't improve if you aren't training!
